'Parrot Collage'
‘Parrot Collage’ (framed in black box frame), 2023, framed size 33 x 33 x 3.5 cm
To me, collage is like a puzzle- each layer is carefully placed to bring my subject to life. I hunt through magazines for hours to find the perfect shades. Finding enough red was a challenge for this piece! I especially enjoyed creating the feathers using both torn and cut edges. I enjoyed putting the colourful parrot over the reconstituted words of a newspaper- a reminder that life, in all its' vibrant glory will continue, regardless of the scandals and stories printed in the tabloids.
Made from found papers and embellished with oil pastel accents. Sealed with gel matte medium and Senellier fixative spray.
