Hand-built ceramic sculpture, 2024
A tangle of octopus tentacles drapes across the surface of this vessel, remaining close to the form as though embracing it. Inspired by traditional pottery silhouettes, the sculpture plays with the Artist’s fascination for the ocean and the natural world.
Deep blues settle at the bottom of the vase, a suggestion of the inky depths of the ocean. Lighter, frothier blues and greens seep down the sculpture, contrasted by subtle warm brown, caramelised edges, like rusted antiquities pulled up from the deep.
Rich in texture and movement, the sculpture invites closer inspection, revealing subtle changes in colour and surface from every viewpoint.
Dimensions: W 20cm × H 24cm × D 20cm
Part of the 'Octopots' series, a limited collection of hand-built ceramic sculptures, created in 2024.
