'Ginevra's Bouquet' mixed media drawing

£40.00

Sam B. Kennedy’s drawings are experimental portraits with a contemporary twist. Patterns and colours inspired by street art bring mixed media energy and vibrancy to each drawing.

About the artwork:

‘Ginevra's Bouquet’ draws inspiration from the tragic story of Ginevra, the title character of Samuel Rogers' 1822 poem ‘Ginevra’, published in ‘Italy’. In the poem, fifteen-year-old Ginevra disappears on her wedding night, only for her remains to be discovered fifty years later, hidden inside a chest where she had concealed herself as a prank and accidentally become trapped.

This portrait reimagines Ginevra. The floral motifs reference flowers traditionally associated with Italian weddings or funerals, acknowledging the cruel convergence of both occasions within Ginevra's story.
