As part of the Guildford Festival of the Arts, local artist Sam B. Kennedy is giving an entertaining and accessible introduction to some of the most exciting and influential artists working in the contemporary art world today.
From bold and boundary-pushing works to pieces that might leave you wondering ‘But… is it art?’, we’ll explore a selection of contemporary artists and the ideas, stories and influences behind their work. Through looking closely at a range of artworks, Sam will help you discover new ways of understanding and appreciating contemporary art, whether you’re already an art enthusiast or simply curious about what’s happening in the art world right now.
With nearly a decade of professional art teaching experience, Sam brings her passion for Art History to the talk in an engaging and accessible way. Expect plenty of fascinating artists, unexpected stories and new names to add to your art-world radar!
The session will take the form of a relaxed lecture-style talk, with time for a Q&A at the end. Free printed handouts will also be provided, giving you something to take away and use as a springboard for discovering more artists after the talk.
