‘Seagull Sundae’ Selected for Art & Grind’s Summer Exhibition
Unveiling my latest painting which you can see in person at the Summer exhibition in Guildford.
I’m over the moon to share that my painting ‘Seagull Sundae’ has been selected for the juried Summer Exhibition at Art & Grind in Guildford! The show will be on display from 20th May to 2nd June, and if you’re local (or just fancy a trip), I wholeheartedly encourage you to pop in and take a look.
‘Seagull Sundae’ is a 61 x 61 cm mixed media piece that captures a joyful, chaotic moment we’ve all either witnessed— or experienced— by the sea: the exact instant a seagull triumphantly claims a dropped ice cream, all set against a swirl of hot candy pinks, parma-violet purples, and liquorice blues. The painting has been hand-delivered to the gallery this week and is getting ready to be hung in the exhibition.
This piece was inspired by childhood trips to the Isle of Wight with my cousins. After long, salt-soaked days paddling at Ryde beach, we’d wander in search of the perfect sweet treat—deliberating over ice cream flavours and bags of sweets from the local shops. Those bright and vibrant memories of poring over colourful sweet jars and raspberry ripples were the spark behind this painting.
It’s a real honour to have this piece selected by Art & Grind, a venue I absolutely love working with. They are genuine champions of emerging artists, curating exhibitions with care and offering a welcoming, creative space right in the heart of Guildford. Their green smoothies, by the way, are a personal favourite- especially on a Wednesday afternoon after I’ve finished teaching my oil class just around the corner!
If you’re in the area between 20th May and 2nd June, please do drop by Art & Grind, enjoy the exhibition, and show some love to this brilliant independent business.
